Bus priority ads defended
Panama’s Minister of the Presidency, Jimmy Papadimitriu, has sprung to the defense of an ad campaign in which drivers are asked to give way to Metro buses.
Papadimitriu explained that the campaign was not designed to favor My Bus, the company that operates the Metro Bus mass transportation system. but its aim was to create awareness among drivers of the changes taking place.
The minister emphasized that other drivers have to be conscious of the changing mass transit system and that each bus benefits 50 families and.stressed that a vehicle violating traffic regulations may affect a bus carrying over 50 people.
The atatements came during a ceremony announcing that the Comptroller General has endorsed a $36 million contract for the construction of 916 Metro Bus stops and ticket centers for the districts of Panama and San Miguelito.
