4.1 tremor shakes eastern Panama

An earthquake measuring  4.1 on the Richter scale shook the Caribbean side of Panama, near the Kuna  Yala indigenous community.

No casualties or damage were reported.

The Institute of Geosciences, at theUniversity of Panama said that the tremor occurred at 10:50 pm local time Friday (03.50 GMT on Saturday) at a depth of 40 kilometers. 

The quake, which had its epicenter in the region of Carti, also felt in the provinces of Colon and Panama.
