Ngbe Bugle dont trust word of Martinelli government

The  Ngäbe Bugle no longer trust the word of the Panamanian government and have told their representatives to grant no more time after February 27 to reach an agreement on amending the mineral resources code.

The dialogue between representatives of the Indian community and the government are to resume Monday in the National Assembly. They were  adjourned because of Carnival.  Alberto Montezuma, coordinator  said that this request be made ??known to have bases in consultations made during the recess. According to Montezuma, coordinator of the group opposing mining and hydro electric operations in the indogenous homelands, the indigenous people do not trust the word of the government. He said they have tried for a year to get acceptance of a proposal for a special  mining act  for the district approved, but without  success.

He said that the Indians are waiting for "any call" that will be made by their leaders. And it  possible that they come down from the mountains again, reported Telemetro Report .

Omaira Silvera, representative of the coordinator, said that, so far, the dialogue has been very tense. And  the Indians feel "discomfort and distress" because they have not seen a law to defend them from mining and hydroelectric expansion and they want  cancelation of hydroelectric concessions in the area and adjoining areas.
