Panamas History School may be history

History is not high on the list of priorities for Panama students and there is a danger that the Panama University School of History, could itself become history.

The acting director of the School, Fermina Santana said that to date the future of the degree in history, which prepared its last five students in 2011,  has not yet been decided. "Reforms were made to the curriculum, but the Academic Council has requested a study to determine how it will be marketed and who is interested in studying history," she said. “This is sad, because soon  classes begin for 2012.”

Are those who cannot learn from history doomed to repeat it?

Recently on January 9, a day set aside to remember the martyrs whose deaths led to the signing of a treaty to hand over the canal to Panama, another history professor lamented the lack of knowledge of the event among today’s young. newsroompanama.com/panama/3794-panamas-young-pay-little-heed-to-martyrs-day.html.
