Cantus Panama returns with last performance of the year
By Lourdes Quijada
Fresh from their outstanding performance at Panama’s first Carols by Candlelight celebration Cantus Panama is readying for another presentation on Sunday, December 11.
At the event in the Plaza De Francia in Casco Antiguo, they got a rousing reception from the 2000 participants and their unique version of the Twelve Days of Christmas, Panama style, brought laughter and applause.
On Sunday they will be at St Lukes Episcopal Cathedral presenting “Carols and Villancicos of the Americas” a trans-continent mélange of seasonal hymns and carols in English and Spanish. I have attended most of their concerts and have enjoyed every one of them, The group first came togetherabout soome years ago to share their love of song and to raise money for charity, two truly worthwhile endeavours
This concert starts at 2:30 pm. St. Lukes is on Calle Gorgas in Ancón. A donation of $5.00 will be collected at the door.
Proceeds from the concert will be donated to the Fundación Hogar de Niñas de la Capital, also known as the “Episcopal Girls Home”. As a special treat, some of the girls from the home will join the chorus to sing Jingle Bells / Cascabel. If you missed Carols by Candlelight, don’t miss this.
