Ex aviation boss sentenced to jail for fuel theft
The former director of Panama’s Civil Aviation Authority has been sentenced to three years and four months in jail for stealing aviation fuel.
Eustacio Fabrega, was accused of embezzlement of fuel belonging to the Authority.
The judge acquitted Paniza Aissa Loana Castillo Martinez, Fabrega’s secretary.
During the preliminary hearing last week, Fabrega pleaded not guilty and said that he made an agreement with the Court of Accounts to pay $1,605 to close the equity process caused by the theft.
His lawyer Moses Bartlett said he would appeal the ruling.
