Tourism chief praises scandal ridden titling program
Panama’s tourism administrator stepped into the debate of the scandal ridden land titling program on Friday, September 23, and promised its continuance.
Solamon Shamah, speaking on TVN News said "a negative thing cannot be imposed on thousands of positive things," referring to recent scandals in the National Authority Land Administration (Anati) where multi-millionaires were given free title to lands worth scores of millions of dollars.
Shamah, known to be close to President Ricardo and who has held on to his job in spite of earlier announcements that he was to be moved after losing his US visa said: "We plan to continue the program," and said he will work to find a solution to the recent controversies
The ATP administrator also referred to the bill that seeks to reform the law that created Anati. "If we live in an eternal process of reforming the law … we will probably never see positive results.”
