Panama wins World Cup Qualifier
Panama beat Nicaragua 2-1 to Nicaragua, in an intense and closely fought qualifying match for the 2014 World Cup, Tuesday September 6.
The game was played in the new national football stadium in Managua.
Panama scored eight minutes into the match with a header from Luis Tejada that beat Nicaraguan goalkeeper Denis "The Octopus" Espinoza.
The game was tied after 14 minutes when captain Panama’s captain Román Torres scored an own goal when trying to deflect a shot from Gustavo Barrera.
Panama;s second goal came from Blas Perez, five minutes after half time.
An equalizing goal from Alex Villanueva was ruled offside.
The World Cup finals will ve held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
