Underground bang cuts internet services
If you were wondering why you couldn’t access the internet on Thursday May 12, the answer lay in an underground explosion in Central Avenue.
Cable & Wireless Panama said that the explosion took place in an electrical distribution chamber, affecting fiber optic cables also housed in the chamber.
Internet service, local data for mobile service, and international voice service, were affected said C&W.
Internet service from Cable Onda also went down in some areas during the rainstorm on Thursday afternoon, but attempts to reach the company for an explanation failed.
Cable and Wireless is working to restore the fiber optic links and carry out.electrical repairs.
