Poisoning victims scuffle with police in attempt to close highway

Attempts by victims of the mass poisoning of Panamanians by government  prepared medicines, to block the Transistmica highway were blocked by police on Wednesday morning.

Television footage showed scuffles between protestors and police and fainting demonstrators

Survivors and relatives of  over 160 who died from diethyline glycol in government distributed cough syrup, have been asking for treatment and justice for over four years.

They are also protesting the firingof Gabriel Pascual,president of the Families Committee for the Right to Health and Life,  who was a Social Security official.

Protestors say they want President Ricardo Martinelli to meet with them.
