Shakira, The Colombian sensual, singing, sensation, ended her Sun World Tour of Latin America at the Figali Center on Tuesday April 12, in fittingly Panamanian style, starting half an hour late.
In return, Panama’s adoring citizens almost filled the Figali Center, providing their contribution to the performer’s climb to becoming the biggest earning woman singer of all time.
They will also have been contributing to the Pies Descalzos Foundation, created by Shakira to provide special schools for poor children in Colombia.
She began her concert with “I think of you” a song from"Pies Descalzos", the album that rocketed her to fame and with her ??sensual hip movements, wowed the thousands of spectators, who likely didn't notice the lack of organized audience emergency security arrangements.
Shakira arrived in and left Panama by private jet. Her next stop is Europe where she is now dating Spanish footballer Gerard Pique following the ending of an 11 year relationship with the son of the former President of Argentina, Antonio de la Rúa. She confirmed the new beau last month via Twitter.
The event was so hyped, that one well known Venezuelan owned restaurant closed for the evening, thinking perhaps that their customers were Figali bound. That may have been to the benefit of another Venezuelan venture Il Coltello, whose chic tables were fillewd with well heeled customers.
Shakira has also managed something that so far has eluded Panama’s president, Ricardo Martinelli … a visit to the Oval Office to meet with President Barack Obama.
