Night music noise outlets targeted by new bill
At least one of Panama’s legislators has an ear for music, but perhaps not the kind of ear that owners of of discos, patio barbecues aand other emitters of noise pollution might appreciate.
Deputy Michael Germain has submitted a bill the National Assembly that aims to regulate the volume of music at restaurants and nightclubs in the capital especially late at night.
Targeted areas are Calle Uruguay, San Miguelito, and Calle 50 where hundreds of complaints have been received from residents and even neighboring restaurants and businesses. The noise the claim affects their peace and productivity.
If the Germain bill becomes law, and is enforced, he will have earned the thanks of many happy residents .
