Central America seeking help on climate change challenges

After years of inaction, and denials about climate change,  governments Central America are  beginning to follow the lead of  the industrialized countries, in at least recognizing there is a problem.

Environment ministers from the region, meeting in Guatemala,   united in  emphasizing their  vulnerability to climate change and  now  consider it necessary to negotiate jointly with international organizations to get support
The conclusions were  reached by the Council of Ministers of the Central American Commission on Environment and Development says Panama’s National Environmental Authority.
Silvano Vergara, deputy general of the  Authority representing Panama, said that Central American countries are making joint efforts to implement  in adaptation to and and mitigation of climate change, with  public-private partnerships to improve environmental performance.
The  group  aims to produce joint action plans, to enable  Central American countries, to negotiate  with international bodies and obtain economic and technical support to address contingencies.
