Noriega heads list of wanted Panamanians
Former dictator Manuel Antonio Noriega heads a list of extradition requests including for others who allegedly committed crimes under the military regime.
The requests were issued by Panama, to seven countries and the list includes people on the run for multiple crimes.
Meanwhile Panama is seen as an open door place of refuge by alleged malefactors from countries like Colombia, Cuba, Haiti and Central America, and a former high ranking Panamanian legislator is wanted on murder charges in the U.S. but reamins safely at home.
Manuel Antonio Noriega, is serving a seven years sentence in France for money laundering, and is wanted for prosecution in Panama for alleged crimes, including murder.
Also on an extensive list compiled by La Prensa is the former head of private security for Noriega, Asuncion Eliecer Gaitan, believed hiding in Cuba; the former head of the frogmen battalion, Captain Evidelio Quiel safe in Costa Rica; and Sergeant Germán González , charged with the murder of farmer Edwin Amaya.
Nine others including six murderers, two alleged drug traffickers and a woman accused of involvement in the poisoning deaths by diethylene glycol of at least 155 Panamanians, are being sought.
The former president of Panama's National Assembly Pedro Miguel Gonzales, is wanted in the U.S. for the alleged murder of an American soldier in 1992.
