Honing your improvising skills for all eventualities

The Theater Scene with
Dra Lourdes Qiujada

If you think you have  a hidden talent for acting, or maybe need to hone your skills for a confrontation with the boss, a domestic dispute, or when looking for a job, Panama’s Ancon Theatre Guild might have the answer.

They are offering what they politely call an "inspirational experience?" What they are really talking about  is  improvisational (improv) acting which could be the answer to all of the  previously mentioned scenarios, including the first, with the chance to be a part of the TGA’s 2012 Improv8 show?

The TGA’s improvisation troupe ‘Improv8’ are going to be holding their second Beginners Improv Course this month

The  six week course is suitable for those  aged 16 and upwards, and if you haven’t  yet learned the dramatic techniques of a quick response to get you out of a tight corner, now could be the time.

The course starts  Tuesday  March 15  and runs once a week through April 19.

It will focus on learning the basics of improvisational acting and how to successfully use the technique within a performance.
The sessions will also use the performance style of theatre sports, using games, exercises, rules and quirks to create short comic performances.

How that will fit in with the boss confrontation, is uncertain, although laughter can break down walls.

The course also offers the opportunity to audition to become an ‘Improv8’ actor and join the troupe.
for the  2012 show.
All course members will be get audition invitationat  year end

There will be a 7th bonus session (free of charge!) at the end of the course but  the date is not yet  confirmed.

All workshops are 7.15pm – 9.30pm  with a prompt start. Place at Theatre Guild of Ancon, Ancon. (Next to the DIJ building.)
