Shortage of drivers will not stop new Metro buses -Minister
Panama’s much delayed mass transit system will not be derailed by lack of drivers for the Metro buses says but foreigners will not be brought in says Minister of the Presidency, Jimmy Papadimitriu.
The Minister said that the company My Bus, which operates the fledgling bus Metro Bus system is analyzing ways to recruiting more people to become drivers, but staff shortages will not delay the program's mass transit system in the capital.
"I do not agree, with bringing foreign drivers into the country and I think that neither would the President.”
He said that some of the drivers of the current diablos rojos have not applied to join the Metro Bus system (which is imposing drug testing and drivingrecord searches on applicants)
