Accident forms compulsory for all vehicles from February 1
Starting Tuesday, February 1, Panama motorists will have to carry a minor traffic accident form and insurance documents in their cars at all times.
The transportation authority (ATTT) reported is planning "awareness campaign" and claims that the new system will help alleviate traffic jams.
Under the new program, anyone involved in a minor accident must remove their vehicle from the road, or face a fine’
ATTT Director, Jorge Ricardo Fábrega, says that this will allow drivers to resolve their differences overminor vehicle collisions, without the presence of a traffic officer.
A minor collision is one with no injuries and drivers must complete a detailed form.
Including the circumstances of the accident, time, and place weather conditions, state of the road, and the final position of the vehicles. If possible, pictures should be taken of the accident.
