Fourth death listed in Panama detention center fire scandal

A fourth teenager, hospitalized after being severely burned at a fire in a juvenile detention center in Panama, has died.

While the fire raged on Sunday, January 9, and youngsters screamed for help, police stood by and one yelled “die.”

Police involved have been from the Juvenile Detention Center, Tocumen, but no charges have been laid although the police were seen on videos aired on local TV.
The latest death took place around 12:30 a.m. today, Monday January 17. A press conference is scheduled.
Three other youths are still being treated for burns at San Tomas hospital and are reported in fragile condition
