A new outreach club, promising a fun packed calendar for English speakers will be launched in Panama,Panama  in January with a Twelfth Night Revel.

The Canada Plus Club will be introduced by a team of local residents headed by a small Canadian organizing committee.

“Plus” means that the club will be open to all nationalities living in, or visiting Panama, Once enrolled membership will be lifetime and participants will receive a membership card providing multiple discounts on high end items from language courses to cruises and boat rentals and smaller discounts in stores and entertainment . The club committee anticipates that the cost of membership will often be recouped the first time the card is used.

While the club will be dedicated to creating regular enjoyable social events alone or in conjunction with other organizations, it will also aim to offer logistical support and make donations to local charities, causes, and institutions.
Formalities will be kept to a minimum, and membership will be open to anyone who cares to join. If English is not your first language, attending Canada Plus Club functions will provide the opportunity to polish your linguistic skills.
The opening event A Twelfth Night Revel will be held in the new “Cave” (wine cellar) at Roma Antica, near the Marriot hotel, where the unbelievably bargain wine prices will bring a glow to your cheeks and for those still left with an appetite after the Christmas and New Year festivities the restaurant will be offering several menus at specially discounted prices. However, you don’t have to eat. (For an earlier review of the restaurant, go to Dining and Wining.) The event starts at seven, and  admission is free.
January 6 is the historical last day of Christmas. It is also known as Little Christmas Day and, for the Eastern Orthodox Church Christmas Day. Take your choice of names, but turn up and enjoy, and get details on activities for the year, including the marking of some international celebrant dates from Chinese New Year, to Canadian Thanksgiving, backed up with exploration tours, theater trips , community involvement and collaboration with expat organizations throughout the country.
There will be room for involvement of all members and the Club is open to suggestions to expand the calendar of events.
Lifetime membership will be $25 single, $40 a couple. The discount card is free.
