Opening a door to a healthier lifestyle

I’m not sure how a palm reader fits into a vegetarian food festival (maybe forecasts of a longer healthier life) but, along with music, singing, dancing, and gift stalls it was all part of the show at Panama’s La Salle School in Panama on Sunday (November 21).
Hundreds turned out to pay practical homage to a vegetarian or less carnivorous lifestyle and the upcoming World Meat Free Day (November 25).
There were booths a-plenty selling books on healthy eating, and meditation, take-away vegeterians food and drinks, trinkets, indigenous arts and crafts and paintings.
Somehow the packets of chicken soup mix at one stall didn’t seem to fit in, but no one’s perfect.
The central and busiest feature outside of the lecture auditorium (where promoters advocating medical tourism struck another discordant note) was the food arena where you could dine healthily and cheaply with a wide spread of options from humus and pita bread to mosaka, biryanis, samosas, vegetarian sausages and veggie burgers, tofu brochette with peanut sauce and delicious desserts served by a wandering salesman.
For vegetarians it was something more than “ho hum” and for those seeking alternatives to a carnivorous diet it was a true door opener.
The event was staged by The Sadhu Vaswani Centers from Colon and Panama who promise to make it an annual celebrations of healthy eating..
