Geisha coffee. happy hour prices, discounted wine, free legal advice, the chance to snack or dine in an upscale location, a chance to win a local yacht cruise for eight, and most of all gathering to welcome Canadians returning to Panama, meeting  old friends and making new. 

And you think  there are parking problems in Panama .....

It will all be happening on Thursday, November 18 at the Pangea Restaurant, a deservedly celebrated dining and wining spot in El Cangrejo, Panama. and  the price of admission is:  willingness to enjoy.

The event, staged by the rejuvenated Canadian Association of Panama, fresh from a successful Canadian Thanksgiving fund raising  dinner.

The evening is open to all who want to share in the fun with those escaping the first chilly blasts of the northern winter and returning to, or experiencing for the first time, the climatic and personal warmth of Panama.
The event starts at 7 p.m The coffee tasting presented by Frank Tedman of Palo Alto will be at 7.30.  With Geisha coffee selling at up to $170 a lb (wholesale), it’s an opportunity that most of us will not get too often.

Could be yours to party on

 Panamanian born Frank, is grandson of  the founder of the Palo Alto coffee plantation in Boquete. His grandfather moved there from Ontario early in the last century, and Frank has two children studying at the University of Toronto. A third graduated there this month with a Master’s law degree.


Discovery toursYasser (Alex) Williams Arosemena, of the law firm Arosemena & Arosemena, will be on hand to answer questions relating to living and settling in Panama. Have your questions ready, and jot them down on a form available at the door, and he will answer them either at the event at 8 p.m. or by email later.

You will also be given details of the exciting programs envisaged for next year for the Association, ranging from a discount card for members, to special dining and wining events, to discovery tours and of course celebration of Canada Day and Canadian Thanksgiving.

If you want to register for the Blood For Everyone program, backed by local and expat groups, this is your chance. An opportuniity  to help others, and maybe one day, yourself.
Before the evening is over, there will be a tombola draw for a half day Pacific sail,  for you and half a dozen friends, donated by the Canadian owned Panama Sailing School.
Via Venito runs up past the Venito Casino. This should be an evening to enjoy and remember. If you are Panamanian, a good chance to practice your English on those friendly Canucks.
