More big stick promised for errant drivers

More punishments for bad drivers in Panama may lie ahead if transport authority (ATTT) czar Jorge Ricardo Fábrega, gets his wish.

He said Friday (November 12) that the ATTT is exploring the possibility of suspending driving licenses of motorists who illegally drive on the shoulders of roadways.
The infraction, saysFabrega , contributes to increased traffic congestion and accidents.
The new rule would be included in the upcoming law that to increase penalties for traffic violations.
Speaking on radio, Fábrega said that the authority is looking for citizens to take more responsibility while driving through city streets.
He made no comments about enforcement.
