President urges deepening of bribery investigation
While a judge is deciding if the CEMIS investigation can continue, Panama’s president, Ricardo Martinelli, urged the judiciary to deepen its investigation of the case.
It concerns alleged bribery of members of the legislature prior to a vote to award the contract for a major development in Colon.
Martinelli said while inspecting a road development in Chiriqui the courts should get to the bottom of the events so that “justice is done, regardless of who is involved.”
"All the Panamanian people want to know what happened in the case CEMIS" he said.
The president said that what was bas in these cases wasthat "when the judiciary opens any investigation against some officials, they immediately, instead of telling the truth, begin to claim to be political persecuted."
"Let justice do its work so that all the Panamanian people will know what really happened," he said.
