Memories of the Dignity Battalion on the streets

What the Papers Say

La Prensa, August 20
Democratic Change (CD)-the party whose leader is the President of the Republic, paid yesterday for a number of newspaper advertisements in which it offers $5000 to clarify what happened to Valentin Parlacio , the worker missing in the riots of Bocas del Toro . The announcement of the award-written with more liver than brain, says that behind the disappearance of the workers there are lies that "careful [sic] against the peace and stability in the country."

But the accusation was not enough. Yesterday, in an unprecedented act that reveals a political blunder, the CD sent a mob- in the style of the Dignity Battalions to provoke labor groups that are in dialogue with the Government on Bill 30. If this initiative is broken because of the confrontation yesterday, what will be the excuse of the President? That the mob acted behind his back? That someone made a mistake he cannot forgive? Even his own Cabinet won’t believe hjim. The good news for the unruly militant CD is that you can now claim the reward of $5,000, for conspiring against the peace and stability of the country
