Doctors may withdraw some ER services

Medical specialists ar Hospital Santo Tomás Hospital (HST) may suspend work in the emergency room, overnight and on weekends.

The move follows the decision of the comptroller general of the Republic, Mona Lisa Bianchini, to suspend payment of overtime shifts

The president of the Association of SpecialistsHST, Julio Garcia Valarini, sent a note on June 8 to of the hospital director, Elías García Mayorca, pointing out that that 176 specialists payments owed from November 2009 and January through May this year had not been paid.
