World Cup boosts bar and restaurant trade
Restaurants and bars continue to benefit from World Cup fever, even in the initial stages.
They anticipate even more excitement when teams get to play their second matches on Thursday and the fight to reach the last 16 starts to get serious.
Among those benefiting over the weekend were Oldies,on Calle 39, where crowds gathered to watch the England-USA game in which the US managed a tie after the England goalkeeper fumbled an easy shot, and the Germany-Australia game on Sunday.
At Rincon Aleman, Calle 51, German supporters packed both bars to watch the German 4-1 rout of Australia and local horn blowers tried to emulate the noise of the vuvuzela’s (which, by the way,has been protested by players on field and spectators from around the world).
Both Oldies and Rincon Aleman have created special World Cup menus.
Other centers for watching include Petit Paris in Marbella and Rino’s on Federico Boyd (a great place for watching Italian games. Both restaurants are serving world Cup breakfasts.
Games run daily at 6.30 a.m., 9 a.m. and 1.30 p.m.
Enjoy while you can. After this you will have to wait another four years to see the best teams in the world competing in one country. {jathumbnail off}
