Tourism manager will head garbage authority
Panama’s tourism manager Salomón Shamah, will head the new authority for collecting garbage in the capital.
Alongside Shamah, who was one of the driving forces behind the creation of the authority, will be the Health Minister Franklin Vergara and the administrator of the National Environmental Authority, Javier Arias.
Harmodio Montaner, acting director of the Directorate of garbage collection (DIMAUD) in the Municipality of Panama, will be director of the organization, said Vergara.
DIMAUD employees, went on alert yesterday because they know their future employment, will be under the new authority… "There will be no redundancies," said the minister.
