US military forces to remain in Panama until September this year

The U.S. Southern Command, is leading a humanitarian civic assistance program in Veraguas, Herrera, Chiriqui and Darien.

Even though the program does officially start operations on June 29, Deputy Health  Minister Alejandro Garúz said there are already forces and equipment present in the country.

Garúz added that "there are about 210 containers and vehicles containing food, shelter and construction equipment, which will be transported throughout national territory."
