Mayors public image heading for the garbage

Mayor Bosco Vallarino would be in third place if the election he won one year ago was repeated today.

An unscientific poll conducted by La Prensa reveals that 66 percent of those who said they voted for him regret having done so.
Two former mayors, the president of the Association of Municipalities of Panama and a member of a citizens civil group are united in agreeing that his administration has no plans to promote the development of the capital city.

They complain about the lack of coordination, "unrealistic" plans and poor execution of projects.
Panama’s former mayor and current governor, Mayín Correa says that while the mayor received a "broken", administration he was wrong not to have conducted an audit of what the previous administration left.

"The law says that if the allegations are not checked you become an accomplice in crime," said Correa, who, along with Vallarino is a member of the ruling alliance.

Vallarino has done nothing specific to come to the rescue of Central Avenue and Mi Pueblito. "You must wear boots," she said.

The former mayor Juan Carlos. Navarro said that this administration has gone from catastrophe to catastrophe.  And the sociologist Raúl Leis, Centre for Studies and Social Action Panamanian says Vallarino’s work does not approach the role for which he was elected.

"If there was a recall system for mayors I would open a process," he said.

With a 66 percent turn around, the mayor would be out of a job. As it is he will draw his salary for another four years.

Jaime Barroso, Secretary General of the Municipality, said the mayor "has fallen prey to  misunderstanding" . There is no word from the Presidential Palace.
