One traffic problem reduced
The National Assembly has approved which help avoid major traffic snarls following minor vehicle collisions.
It was reported that the purpose of this law is to prevent the vehicular jams that affect countless Panamanian commuters on a daily basis.
"The proposal, submitted by Rep. Leandro Ávila, states that in the case of a minor traffic accident where the parties reach an agreement in which they decide not to use the services of the insurance company, they may promptly withdraw their vehicles from the site of the accident," sais a press release issued by the National Assembly.
It was also agreed that individuals involved in a minor collision, insurance companies, or companies contracted for road assistance, may use cameras, camcorders, and cell phones with cameras to collect evidence indicating the positions of the vehicles involved in the accident and the visible damage incurred.
According to Ávila, the bill will benefit non involved motorists who are affected by the daily traffic jams produced as vehicles with minor damage block roads for up to four hours awaiting a traffic policeman before clearing their vehicles from the scene of the incident.
