Deputy calls for a year in jail for blocking streets

Last night was full of surprises at the National Assembly.

 First a deputy from the ruling party attempted to slip into the discussion an administrative amendment governing voting procedures. That led to the adjourning of the debate until today.
The ruling party earlier attempted to make changes to the Criminal. Code.

Deputy Alternate Sellhorn Augustine presented a proposal to amend the code  in order to punish with 365 days in jail, "commutable",  those who participate pate in a "tumultuous meeting that results in the closure of streets preventing  free transit.”

The proposal caused such discomfort, even among members of the ruling bloc, says La Prensa, that it was withdrawn.
