Water rationing possible if no conservation in Panama city
If there is no rain before May, when the rainy season is due to start, Panama City and San Miguelito could face water rationing.
The warning comes from IDAAN (water and sewage authority) director Manuel González Ruiz, who says that according to projections of the Panama Canal Authority, Alajuela Lake in Chilibre will reach a critical point in May unless rain falls in the area before then.
IDAAN is discussing measures to be taken to conserve the use of water to. avoid rationing.
Measures will be successful, said Ruiz, only if the population is aware of the seriousness of the problem, and stops watering gardens, filling swimming pools, and using water as a broom to clean driveways and sidewalks
