President’s popularity starts to slide

A big fall in the popularity of President Ricardo Martinelli has been “explained” by Minister of the Presidency, Jimmy Papadimitriu,
A survey conducted by the Dichter & Neira showed a decline in the popularity of President’s popularity by 17.3 points.
Papadimitriu, said a drop in the ratings is normal when a president was previously reaching astronomical numbers "You have to look at the overall tendency of the numbers," he said.
The minister said that obtaining a popularity of 70 percent is a high number for any president of any country.
Papadimitriu explained that, just as any government that has just come into power, problems will arise, but the Martinelli administration is working to overcome these obstacles.
Papadimitriu called on the media to spread more of the positive initiatives being developed and implemented by the new government.
Martinelli followed the usual political line of downplayed the importance of the public opinion polls, when they are heading the wrong way.
He said he is more concerned with improving the quality of life of the population than with opinion polls. “The polls do not provide food … and do not improve the quality of health, education, or transportation," he said.
