Mayor ensured a Merry Christmas and Profitable New Year for some

The figures surrounding the cost of the “World’s Biggest Christmas“ keep changing but one thing is clear, it was a  Merry Christmas and a Profitable New Year for some,with connections to City Hall.

A a report on the expenses of the says the event had a total cost of $840,507, meaning that the mayor awarded more than half the money spent without soliciting bids.
One of the more controversial expenditures says La Prensa was the $50,000 paid to Mays Zona Libre for 15,000 toys that were handed out.
The mayor had originally said 21,000 toys would be purchased with that money.
Several City Council members demanded that an audit of the expenses, especially as some of the contracts ended up not being fulfilled.
The representative for San Francisco, said that the figures appear to be inflated, and the amount spent does not seem to match the services that were provided.
But the representative from December 24 defended the Mayor and asked the council to work in harmony
