Corruption prosecutor appeals judgment that let Mayor off the hook
Mayor Bosco Vallarino is still not of the hook in the case of a $4000 check that was authorized for a trip to Taiwan by his wife Anabel Espino de Vallarino.
A judge of the 5th circuit recently revoked the order for Vallarino to appear before anti-corruption prosecutot Ramses Barrera.
The judge’s reasoning was that the check was never actually used,so neither the mayor nor his wife was guilty of a crime.
Vallarin had earlier said that he was anxious to appear to clear his name, but after three no-shows, he obtained the judgment favoring him.
One of the no-shows was because he had checked into hospital claiming an irregular heart beat.
The prosecutor assigned government doctors to examine the mayor, and called for his records at the Paitilla hospital.
One day before his fourth re-scheduled appearance he obtained the judgment enabling him to once again dodge the bullet, but it is still following him.
