Corruption prosecutor checking on health status of Mayor

Anti-corruption prosecutor, Ramses Barrera, has asked the Institute of Legal Medicine (IMEL), to verify the health status of Mayor Bosco Vallarino to see if he is fit to give evidence.

The prosecutor has also asked Paitilla Medical Center for all documents relating to Vallarino’s ailments.

The mayor checked into hospital on the eve of a  third scheduled appointment with the prosecutor.
Vallarino is being investigated over the issuing of a $4,000 check by the City of Panama, on behalf of his wife for a trip to Taiwan, soon after he was elected.
He was a no-show for two earlier appointments.
