Diablos Rojos era coming to a close

Panama’s notorious diablos rojos will be gone by March 2011 according to Minister of the Presidency Jimmy Papadimitriu.

He also confirmed that transportistas will receive $25,000 for each registered vehicle, in line with the agreement reached last October  between owners and the previous administration .
Papadimitriu said the Government would adhere to the agreement based on the urgency of providing a better transportation for the citizens of Panama.
The start of the concession for the new buses is slated for March 2010.
The, selected operator must have completely renovated the existing bus fleet, by March 2011 leading to the end the era of the diablos rojos.
