Cleaning authority opts out of landfill talks
The Urban and Home Cleaning Authority (Aaud) withdrew from the Online quotation with the Ecolimpia Consortium to manage the Cerro Patacón sanitary landfill.
According to Aaud, the objective of the contract is “based on the premise that the contractor would be in charge of all” the operations of Cerro Patacón. The entity emphasized that when it was in the initial contract negotiations, the Ecolimpia Consortium only offered a “partial” operation of the sanitary landfill, which does not take into account essential elements, such as the total security of Cerro Patacón and the management of the leachate plant.
The consortium’s proposal does not include the management of gas capture and the rehabilitation of access roads to the areas where the operation is carried out.
According to Aaud, it will continue to be in charge of the landfill operation until a new online quote is made to select the company that can provide all the necessary requirements for the operation of Cerro Patacón.
