Street protests during pandemic risk lives
In the 51 days since the first case of COVID-19 in Panama, there have been 178 deaths and 6,378 accumulated cases and of which 178 are new said the MInistry if Health on Wednesday, April 29, while officials warned that street gatherings could spread the virus
The Epidemiological Surveillance System notified 2,822 people in home isolation of which 1,187 are in hotels. Clinically recovered patients totaled 2,484.
There are 367 citizens still hospitalized, of whom 275 are in the ward and 92 in intensive care.
Francisco Sucre, Vice Minister of Health, people taking part in street demonstrations are at risk. “The actions in the last hours require reflection since proximity puts people’s lives at risk,” he said.
