Pandemic far from over warns WHO
With at least 3.3 million new cases of Covid-19 and more than 60,000 new deaths, in the last week in different regions, the World Health Organization (WHO) warns that the pandemic is far from over.
This weekly WHO report was advanced by the United Nations and highlights that Europe and America account for 80% of all cases and deaths.
“From these data it appears that the pandemic is far from over and, furthermore, it is at the crossroads between vaccines and various variants that are cause for concern,” is reflected in the UN note.
Regarding the variants of the virus, concern is shown above all about the so-called “United Kingdom”, since reports warn that it is present in 125 countries of the six regions of the world.
It is added that this variety may be associated with an increased risk of hospitalization, the severity of the disease and mortality, after a study that involved 55,000 patients with Covid-19 between October and January.

However, national authorities and epidemiologists are on the lookout for a rebound in cases, as has occurred in other regions.
