National alert as encephalitis spreads

A countrywide alert about the spread of the encephalitis virus has been issued by the Ministry of Health.

Health Minister Franklin Vergara, confirmed on Saturday that three new cases of equine encephalitis have been detected in the provinces of Darien and Panama, bringing the number of reported of cases of in humans, to 11 with one death
Vergara called for horse owners to be alert to any health changes in their animals and reiterated the importance of reporting irregularities to the Ministry.
