Ex cop fired for trying to smuggle gun into jail
A retired police lieutenant was one of two workers fired from their jobs at the Judicial Communications Center on Monday for trying to smuggle a firearm into La Joya Prison.
The dismissal order was posted in the Government Gazette under general business of the Supreme Court. The dismissed workers were Oriel Alberto Fuentes and José Alberto Mendoza, the former police lieutenant.
Judge Hannibal Salas said that the judiciary "will not tolerate criminal acts by members of the court."
