U.S. donates $10 million for Panama security
The new U.S. ambassador to Panama, Phyllis Powers performed one of her first official duties by signing an agreement for a $10 million donation to Panama for the strengthening of the country’s security agencies.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the grant will bolster existing programs.
.Vice President Juan Carlos Varela signed for Panama and said the agreement will pay for training, technical assistance and equipment
The focus will be on border and maritime security. Powers said that the U.S. is eager to help Panama fight crime, especially drug trafficking.
