Mayor faces united opposition to spending on Christmas Village

Panama’s mayor, Bosco Vallarino continues in hot water over his Christmas Villages project, with opposition and ruling party councilors saying the the Municipality should not spend a dollar on the controversial plan.

 

At a Tuesday (November 23) meeting Vallarino failed to convince the councilors of the desirability of the villages on the Cinta Costera, in spite of a detailed report of projected expenditure.

Councillors on both sides united in suggesting he find sponsorship for the project

Vallarino's report said he has already awarded $600,00o in contracts for the villas.
The total projected cost is $1 million plus a fund of $ 60,000 to cover damage to the Cinta Costera.
