First 20 nabbed using government vehicles for Carnival

Within 24  hours of  the distribution of a memo warning of illegal use of official vehicles during Carnival, 20 government employees were caught  for “misuse of public property.”

Among the faults that led to the seizing  of the vehicles were drivers not  carrying a pass  for off-duty hours, lacking license plates and being used for personal purposes.

According to a 1996  Executive Decree official cars must carry a pass at off  duty hours. Failure to comply means detentionof  the vehicle  and a $100 fine for the driver.
