High tide warning for Pacific beaches

Not a tsunami, but a prediction of high tides reaching up to 17.8 feet on the Pacific Coast of Panama,  has the Civil Protection Agency (SINAPROC) issuing a cautionary warning to fishermen and those living near beaches.

The high tides will run  April 16 until Friday, April 22  and with the likehood of  coinciding heavy rains,  tides could reach record levels in areas vulnerable to flooding.

The agency  warns people to use caution when using the beaches and rivers  and asks fishermen to take precautions against the likelihood of waves.

The notice starts 2:12 pm Saturday April 16 and will run until 7:09 pm Friday  April 22.
