Mel Gibson in Panama to help children

U.S.  film director Mel Gibson met with president, Ricardo Martinelli and first lady, Marta Linares Martinelli on Thursday to discuss not films but children  with congenital illnesses.

 

Gibson,  is the  principal benefactor of the Foundation "Mending Kids International," that helps afflicted children access surgery in the United States. The foundation has a presence in 32 countries.

The meeting was attended by Health Minister Franklin Vergara, the director of the Social Security, Guillermo Sáez-Llorens, and Secretary of Social Affairs of the Presidency, Dayra Fabrega.

His team will hold follow up meetings on  Friday July 22 with the Office of the First Lady, to work out support mechanisms and whatlevel.

On previous visits to Panama there has been speculation that he was searching for locations for a movie.
