Second infant tests positive for KPC
A second child has tested positive with anti-biotic resistant Klebsiella pneumoniaecarbapenemase (KPC) in the nursery unit of Panama’s Social Security Hospital.
Javier Diaz, director of Medical Services at the Arnulfo Arias Madrid Hospitalreported that two infants remain under medical observation and care.
To date, 57 patients have died with KPC, of which 39 cases are under investigation by the Forensic Medicine unit.
