Work on bridge to be staggered to fight traffic chaos

As government authorities scramble to find a solution to the traffic snarls during repairs to the Bridge of the  Americas  the project has again  been put on hold.

The Ministry of Public Works (MOP) The MOP announced that the rehabilitation and improvement of the bridge will be staggered so as not to affect traffic flow.

Work should have been resumed on Wednesday  after being suspended January 3 following the traffic chaos caused by the closing of two lanes.

The MOP that  40 to  65 000  cars enter the capital city via the bridge in the morning peak hour.

The $80.7 million bridge project  is in the hands of  of the Global MCM consortium.
