Traffic camera suspended after 2,000 tickets

Less than 24 hours after announcing the issuing of over 2000 tickets to speeding motorists caught on camera the transit authority (ATTT) has suspended the East Coast Camera

"As responsible entity we sent the message to all citizens to comply with traffic rules to avoid unfortunate accidents on our streets," said a press release.. But earlier the Government Minister Jorge Ricardo Fabrega, said the service of surveillance cameras for was to eliminate the old system of offering bribes to traffic police. According to Fabrega, the application of the system was the result of competitive bidding and an ATTT study said the system seeks to reduce penalties, accidents and fundamentally "fatal accidents".
